Business Development Manager (Calgary)
The ARAG Group, a global leader in legal expense insurance operating in 20 countries offers an innovative and comprehensive range of legal expense products and services for brokers, underwriting agents and insurers across Canada. 
As part of our strategy to expand and strengthen our presence across Canada, we are looking for a Business Development Manager in Calgary. This role is for a current vacancy.
Reporting to the Director of Broker Partnerships, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for growing existing business portfolios in the legal expense insurance market in Canada while managing relationships with clients, brokers, and partners. 
What Will You Do?

Direct development of existing client relationships through targeted prospecting and sales programs including marketing activities to acquire new customers and sales opportunities
Identify and build profitable legal insurance business within the broker distribution channel
Effectively onboard new programs and provide exceptional ongoing care to your existing portfolio
Actively collaborate with internal departments, peers and colleagues to leverage areas of expertise that will enhance relationships with our broker partner’s and support their business growth
Drive awareness by delivering compelling presentations and providing information to new and existing brokers, associations, and other opportunities
Monitoring industry trends to identify and develop new sales and business opportunities
Travel and attendance at various industry and networking events required
About You:

Self-directed, energetic, and proven track record of achieving targets and building sustained relationships
University/College graduate with 3-5 years of P&C insurance industry experience
Level I or II General Insurance Licence
Valid driver’s license
Technologically proficient with MS Office and Customer Management Systems (CRMs)

Senior Financial Analyst

Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for developing budgets, forecasts, and financial models, analyzing performance trends, and providing actionable insights to management. This role is a vacancy.
What will you do?
Budgeting & Forecasting

Process ownership preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
Collaborate with department heads to gather assumptions and validate inputs.
Perform scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis to support strategic decisions.
Financial Analysis & Reporting

Ability to understand a complex business model and to translate its interdependencies into clear financial metrics.
Perform variance analysis between actuals, budgets, forecasts and provide recommendations to improve underwriting profitability.
Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve financial performance.
Prepare monthly and quarterly reports highlighting relevant KPIs including comments on business developments.
Modeling & Decision Support

Build financial models to support strategic initiatives and business cases.
Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis considering regulatory changes and market conditions.
Incorporate actuarial inputs (loss reserves, premium projections) into financial models.
Interdisciplinary collaboration with Underwriting and Risk Management to ensure that financial modelling reflects all relevant business dimensions
Strategic Support

Support long-term financial planning, capital allocation decisions, and solvency monitoring.
Evaluate business cases for new projects, investments, and initiatives.
Conduct profitability & cost analysis by product line, distribution channel, and region.
Compliance & Governance

Ensure adherence to accounting standards (IFRS) and internal controls.
Maintain documentation for budgeting and forecasting processes.
Communicate with Controller on work status and financial issues that arise.
Process Improvement

Recommend enhancements to financial planning processes and tools.
Support automation and efficiency initiatives within finance.
About You:

University degree in accounting, finance.
CPA, CFA, or equivalent designation preferred.
Experience in MGA or insurance-industry preferred.
5+ years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or corporate finance.
Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Excel with financial modeling; experience with BI tools is an asset.
Knowledge of Windows and MS Office applications including Office 365.
Working knowledge of SAP desired.
Aptitude for figures, strong analytical and investigative skills.
Ability to thrive under pressure and adhere to challenging deadlines.
Excellent communication and organizational skills with internal stakeholders, clients and management.
